TROUBLE SHOOTING
NOTE: Our lectures are compiled using Flash, and best viewed using Internet
Explorer 6.0 with screen resolution of 1024 X 768. The system will
automatically prompt for any missing or non-compliant components for you to
upgrade. Usually, in a Corporate LAN environment (Hospitals and Institutions),
your password for the workstation may prohibit you to perform these upgrades.
You must have Local Administrative Privileges to install and upgrade Software
in your PC. Contact your System Administrator for further assistance.
If you experience problems with viewing the lectures, verify the following
[Top]
You may not have the Flash Player Plug-In installed or have an outdated
version.
You must install the Flash Media Plug-In by CRTL+CLICK-ing the icons below. If
any these items are already present in your PC, the system will prompt you to
1-Modify, 2-Repair or 3-Remove. Select option 2 to Repair.
|
| 1. |
If you are unable to install the plug-in, your
browser or network settings are set to prevent it, or does not support ActiveX
scripting. In Internet Explorer, under Tools / Advanced, click “Restore
Defaults”. This will reset to Medium Level to enable cookies, JavaScript and
allow Flash Player to be installed
|
|
| 2. |
If your internet access is Wireless, or
centrally managed via System Admin, the network connectivity offered is
transparent between the PC and the Hub, but there may be internal encrypted
security data coding that may restrict you to install the applet. Contact your
System Administrator for further assistance.
|
|
| 3. |
Please verify that your speakers are turned
ON, not muted or disconnected. The Master Volume control must be turned up in
the Volume Contro/Mixer Console. You may have to select the Wave input on the
Audio Mixer of the sound card.
|
|
| 4. |
Anti-Virus, Firewall, pop-Up Blockers, Spam
filters, Screen Savers and other applications running in the background must be
set medium level security and utilize minimum system resources.
|
|
| 5. |
The quality and speed of your internet
connection is poor. If you select the 56K Dial-Up option, the Media delivery
will change to Audio only playing along with the Lecture slides but there will
be no Video.

Microsoft Internet Explorer uses a Temporary
Internet Files folder which contains records of the items you have seen, heard,
or downloaded from the Web, including images, sounds, Web pages, even cookies.
Typically these items are stored in the Temporary Internet Files folder that
build-up over time.
Storing these files in your cache can make browsing the Web faster, because it
usually takes your computer less time to display a Web page when it can call up
some of the page's elements locally. Over time, these temp files become
archives and clogs the folder from updating.
|
Clearing Your Browser's Cache
|
All those files stored in your cache take up
space, so from time to time, you must clear out the files to free up some space
on your computer. In addition to Clearing the IE temp cache, you must also
increase the default temp size to at least 100mb
|

More Speed or More Room?
[Top]
|
If you tend to go online a lot and have ample
space on your computer, you might want to increase the size of your Temporary
Internet Files folder. Why? Because Internet Explorer 6 will read
already-viewed files from the cache first rather than take the time to download
the same page from the Web, thus saving you time and money.
To change the size of your cache:
|
1. On the Tools menu,
click Internet Options. The Internet Options box should open to the General
tab.
2. On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files
section, click the Settings button. This will open the settings box
|

3. In the Settings box, under Amount of disk space to use,
you can slide the bar to the right to increase the amount of disk space used by
